One of the questions, I get all the time, is how fast does ice form on a lake? Or, how much ice can a lake make in a day? Well, there's not straightforward answer to this and a variety of factors affect ice growth. Small, shallow bodies of water ice up much quicker than large, deep lakes and reservoirs.
Ice fishing is a fun and relaxing sport, but its important to always think safety first. Regardless of thickness, no ice is ever truly "safe". Respect the ice, always check conditions for yourself and always carry proper safety gear. Take a few minutes and watch this video on how to perform a self rescue if you do fall through the ice. Be safe out there and stay on top of the ice.
