Hamilton Lake

Hamilton Lake is a 42 acre impoundment located near the borough of Wellsboro. The dam was constructed in 1967 and has been included in the Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commissions’ Catchable Trout Program since 1970*

Anglers can enjoy a diverse fishery including largemouth bass, black crappie, yellow perch, sunfish, chain pickerel, channel catfish, bullheads, and various species of stocked trout. Hamilton Lake receives both pre-season and in-season stockings of trout that include many trophy sized fish.

TIME LAPSE

In 2014, nearby Nessmuk Lake was drained and the fish salvaged were relocated to Hamilton Lake.
Hamilton Lake is easily accessible with two large parking lots located just off Roundtop Road. Boating is permitted, but limited to electric motors only. Many anglers also enjoy canoeing and kayaking as well. There is no fee to launch.
